This LEED certified fire station features two drive through apparatus bays warmed by radiant heat and also includes an attached bunker gear area, decontamination room, hose drying area, workshop and storage rooms, seven bunk rooms, showers, a captains office, kitchen and dining area, day room and fitness room. Green features include a green roof, pervious concrete parking lot, bamboo cabinets, rain garden and ground source heat pump. An underground cistern is included onsite and filled by storm water runoff from the roof drain system. The water captured in the cistern will be used for training and testing the fire truck pumps and will be recycled back into the system. As the only contractor able to get this project within budget, HarenLaughlin was proud to take the reins for the City of Lenexa.
