HarenLaughlin renovated an old mechanics garage in the Crossroads Art District of Kansas City into an eclectic, environmentally friendly banking center. Sustainable design and construction practices were utilized at every opportunity to meet the qualifications needed to be considered for LEED Gold certification including protecting and restoring existing site conditions, optimizing energy performance, reuse of recycled materials, meeting pre-and post-consumer recycled content, incorporating materials with low VOCs, and incorporating a green roof system which lowers the cooling load of the building while reducing storm water runoff, minimizing impact on the surrounding community.
